Industrial electrical maintenance
Planned electrical maintenance on production machinery, motors, drives, switchboards and control circuits, backed by extensive industrial fault-finding experience.
Manufacturing, food production and processing sites across South East Queensland and Northern NSW.
Scope
What we maintain
Electrical maintenance on the plant itself, not just the building it sits in.
Motors and motor circuits
Fault finding, testing, insulation resistance testing and reporting, starters, overloads, motor control circuits, reconnection and replacement.
Variable speed drives
Drive inspection, fault finding, parameter configuration and replacement, including reviewing logged faults that have been cleared without investigation.
Switchboards and MCCs
Inspection, fault finding, repairs, modifications and additional circuits across distribution boards and motor control centres.
Control circuits and field devices
Relays, contactors, sensors, actuators and field wiring. Common sources of nuisance and intermittent faults on automated plant.
Safety circuits
Fault finding and repair on e-stops, guard switches, light curtains and safety relays, worked against the existing design.
Production machinery
Planned electrical maintenance on the machinery and process equipment itself, scheduled around how the site actually runs.
Equipment we work across regularly:
The point of planned work
Catching defects before they become breakdowns
Many electrical failures show warning signs before they become production stoppages. Planned maintenance gives us the opportunity to identify those signs, investigate recurring issues and deal with defects before they become urgent breakdowns.
On a planned visit we are looking at things like:
- Discolouration, signs of overheating and damage at terminations and connections
- Loose terminations and deteriorating cable, glanding and containment
- Drive fault logs that have been cleared without anyone investigating why
- Overloads and protective devices that have been reset more than once
- Control devices and field wiring operating marginally
- Modifications carried out previously and never documented
- Wear and damage on machinery wiring in high movement areas
Sparktech was established in 2024, on the back of 20+ years of hands-on industrial electrical experience, with extensive fault-finding experience. That background is what a planned visit is worth paying for, because recognising a developing fault is a different skill from working through a checklist.
Recurring and intermittent faults
The faults that keep getting reset
Most sites have one or two faults that trip every so often, get reset, and never get properly diagnosed. They clear before anyone can get to them, and by the time someone is free the plant is running again and there is nothing to look at.
A planned maintenance visit is a practical opportunity to work on these. We have time on site, access to the equipment, and no production waiting on the result, which makes it far easier to gather evidence, check history and trace a fault properly.
Where a fault cannot be resolved in one visit, we record what was found and what was ruled out, so the next attempt starts further along instead of starting again.
If you have a fault like that on your site, it is worth raising with us as part of a maintenance arrangement rather than waiting for it to become a breakdown.
Working together
Alongside your maintenance team
Most of the sites we work on already have a maintenance team. We work as electrical support to that team rather than as a replacement for it.
- Planned electrical maintenance visits at an interval that suits the site
- Repairs and modifications identified during inspection, carried out or quoted depending on scope
- Follow-up on recurring and intermittent faults across visits
- Shutdown maintenance and electrical work scheduled into planned downtime
- Additional electrical labour when your team is short or carrying extra workload
- Breakdown attendance on a site we already know
Work is documented as it is completed: certificates of testing and compliance where the work requires one, test result sheets, and job reports with photos.
Also available as part of a maintenance arrangement: test and tag, and RCD testing, both with asset registers and reporting. These are more often the main requirement on commercial and facilities sites, and are covered in more detail on the commercial electrical page.
Where we work
Sites we maintain
South East Queensland and Northern NSW, from Tweed Heads through the Gold Coast, Yatala, Beenleigh and Logan to Brisbane. Licensed in both states, so sites either side of the border are equally in scope.
